As part of the XXI Panamanian Congress of Procedural Law (XXI Congreso Panameño de Derecho Procesal), held August 12-14, 2026 at the Salón Bella Vista of the Hotel El Panamá, our of counsel partner, Dr. Juan Antonio Tejada Mora, received a special tribute in recognition of his distinguished career and valuable contribution to legal academia and procedural law in Panama. The recognition was granted by the Colombian-Panamanian Institute of Procedural Law (ICPDP), the Congress organizer.
Dr. Juan Antonio Tejada Mora is an of counsel partner at Icaza, González, Ruiz & Alemán, one of the most respected figures in Panamanian procedural law. His career as a jurist and professor has left a distinctive mark on the firm, establishing him as a leading voice in Panama’s legal academia. The tribute he received at the 21st Panamanian Congress of Procedural Law recognizes precisely that professional and academic legacy.
A well-deserved tribute
He was accompanied at the ceremony by our partners Gabriela Tejada de Britton and Moisés Iván Rivera, along with our associates Eduardo Flores and Carlos Coto. Dr. Tejada Mora’s legacy has made a significant contribution to training new generations of lawyers and to the development of procedural law in Panama. We congratulate Dr. Tejada Mora on this well-deserved distinction.
Dr. Tejada Mora’s remarks of gratitude
Upon receiving the tribute, Dr. Tejada Mora thanked jurist Óscar Vargas Velarde for his generous words and shared a few thoughts on those who shaped his legal education:
“Perhaps I should also mention my gratitude to those who helped shape my legal education at the University of Panama’s Faculty of Law: Ricardo J. Alfaro, Narciso Garay, the ever-remembered Eloy Benedetti, and Lino Rodríguez Arias, the Spanish scholar who came to Panama and taught us philosophy of law.”
“Thanks to a scholarship from the United States government, I had the opportunity to study public law under the intellectual guidance of Doctors Robert Green and Robert Avery, who at the time led a technical mission in Panama based at the Comptroller General’s Office. The lawyers and scholars who shaped us also deserve to be remembered with gratitude. Thank you very much.”
