Career Trajectory
Fernando González-Ruiz M. is an associate with 14 years of experience in Brand Protection and Anti-Counterfeiting, Litigation & ADR, Trademarks, patents, utility models, industrial designs, slogans, copyrights, trade and domain names, and data protection. He specializes in Trademark Litigation (oppositions and Nullity and Cancellation proceedings, Unfair Competition, Civil and Criminal proceedings regarding IP), Brand Protection, and Anti-Counterfeiting. He also advises on licensing and trademark-related issues in social media, the internet, e-commerce, and advertising. Moreover, he has successfully filed, prosecuted, and obtained trademarks, industrial model registrations, and letters patents for new inventions.
Fernando is an active member of the International Trademark Assocation (INTA), where he has participated in the Anti-Counterfeiting Committee, Unfair Competition Committee, Brands and Innovation Committee, and is currently part of the Bulletins Committee. He is also a member of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), participating in the Anti-Counterfeiting Committee, and a member of the Panamanian Association of Intellectual Property Law (APADEPI).
Fernando has taken part in several panels related to amendments to Intellectual Property legislation in Panama.
